Taiwan’s vibrant civil society is reflected in the diversity of its film festivals. For six consecutive years, AIT has been honored to support the Women Make Waves Film Festival. This year’s festival features seven U.S. titles, including Salome, a 1923 silent film classic selected for preservation by the Library of Congress for its cultural, historic and aesthetic significance. At the press conference, AIT’s newly onboard Public Diplomacy Section Chief Diane Sovereign expressed her hope that the festival would stimulate broader conversations on women’s issues in a post-COVID-19 world.
