AIT is looking forward to the 26th Women Make Waves Film Festival (WMWFF) from Oct. 4 - 13 at Spot Huashan Cinema! This year’s program includes 12 U.S. films, including the opening film On Her Shoulders, a documentary about Iraqi Yazidi activist Nadia Murad who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 for her work to end sexual violence as a weapon of war. This year’s festival also includes a spotlight on the U.S. pioneering queer filmmaker Barbara Hammer. Hinaleimoana Wong-Kalu (one of the first transgender candidates for statewide political office in the United States), Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Dean Hamer and Joe Wilson (Leiti’s in Waiting), and Shatara Michelle Ford (Test Pattern), will also visit Taipei to participate in post-screening discussions.
