10 years into the parenting journey, we still don't own a tablet computer. Yup, you might know by now that my kids don't play with devices because we still prefer to do things that allow us to bond and be together. I was asking the firstborn if she wants a smartphone since many of her friends have one but her reply was "No, I don't need or wish for a phone yet, Mama."
That said, it doesn't mean I don't recognise the importance and benefits of technology and how we need to constantly keep up with the times. The big girl, who is in Primary 4, was telling me about how she has been learning the fundamentals of coding in school and that got me intrigued because it's not something I am familiar with. Did you know? Starting from next year, all upper primary school students will learn computational thinking through basic coding and take part in a 10-hour programme in school. It's to prepare them for the future and let them be able to thrive in the digital age.
Thanks to Lenovo Singapore and Empire Code, the kids and I had an introduction to the world of coding at KidZania Singapore as part of their The KidZ & Innovation Holiday Programme. We each chose a couple of alien avatars and learnt how to animate them by adding movement and sound. For the 20-minute session, the instructions were kept brief and clear so even the boy was able to keep up too. What was their conclusion after the workshop? "Coding can be so FUN after all!" Yup, we definitely enjoyed it much and the best thing is we did it together.
Don't forget to register for the workshop - at no extra fee - at the Main Square when you visit KidZania from now till 15 Sep. Limited slots are available per session and timings are at 1pm, 2:30pm and 4pm (no workshop on 13 Sep). Taking these two onboard into greater awareness of their local area by joining this dream city KidZania Singapore as part of its inaugural KidZ & Heritage event 👩👧👦
Together they get to learn about Singapore’s progress and achievements, and how this successful country pushed through its difficult times 🇸🇬
Along with being a great opportunity for them to learn to solve problems independently through role plays, these two were insanely cute especially when they were looking out for each other without mummy 👩🏻🚒👨🏻🚒👩🏻🍳👨🏻🍳
I hope this trip to @Kidzaniasingapore not only reminded myself but also allow my children to understand that challenging times don’t really last, if they can slug through it, they’ll be able to gain experiences and strengths that’ll lead them to greater things in life 💚

A must eat of Taiwan! Ding Tai Fung is named top restaurants in many magazines including TIMES and CNN, etc. We went at 4pm this day, but it was crowded as you can see in the video Personally, I recommend avoiding lunch and dinner time. Usually you will have to line up up to over an hour during those rush hour. The XiaoLongBao is the must eat! It comes with different flavor a such as pork, shrimp, crab... I also super reccomend the desert XiaoLongBao which has taro ( a kind of sweet potato) inside!
