Tomo Fujita possesses all the elements of great musicianship: astounding technical ability, flawless rhythm skills, and a total command of his instrument. But if asked, Tomo would tell you that music is not just about playing. It’s about feeling. He has a remarkable ability to inject emotion into every phrase he plays, whether the style is blues, jazz, funk or rock. Tomo earned a degree at Berklee College of Music and has been a faculty member at Berklee since 1993. Perhaps the most famous of his former Berklee students are Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno (Kraz) and John Mayer. Tomo is also affiliated with the major music schools in his native Japan. His articles have been published in the Japanese magazines Jazz Life and Jazz Guitar, and he is a regular contributor to the Japanese edition of Guitar magazine. His instructional materials are especially popular in Japan, where guitar players have bought more than 100,000 copies of his videos and books. Tomo has performed with some of the best, including Phil Collins, John Mayer, James Genus (Saturday Night Live), Will Lee (Late Show with David Letterman), Kenwood Dennard (Jaco Pastorious, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Smith), Darryl Jones (Miles Davis, Sting, Rolling Stones), Paul Jackson (Herbie Hancock, Headhunters), Ronnie Earl, Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie, Steve Jordan and Susan Tedeschi. โลกจึงมีสีสันที่สวยงาม

#ชีวิตจริงยิ่งกว่าละคร

ถ้าลูกของคุณคนนึงสอบได้เกรดเฉลี่ยเพียง 1.04
และเป็นอันดับรั้งท้ายของห้อง
คุณจะบอกกับลูกคุณว่ายังไงครับ?

นี่เป็นคำถามน่าคิด
ยิ่งถ้าในบรรดาลูกของเราทั้งหมดเรียนเก่ง
ได้เกียรตินิยม หรือไม่ก็ได้ทุนเรียนต่างประเทศกันหมด

แต่ดันมีลูกคนนึง ตอนม.3
โดนอธิการเชิญออกจากโรงเรียน
และต้องเรียนซ้ำชั้นตั้งแต่ม.1 ใหม่ทั้งหมด 3 ปี
คุณจะคุยกับลูกคนนี้ยังไง?

นี่เป็นเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นในวัยเด็กของ"บอย โกสิยพงษ์"
เจ้าพ่อนักแต่งเพลงรักที่เรารู้จักกันดี
ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ฤดูที่แตกต่าง, ลมหายใจ, Live and Learn ฯลฯ

แน่นอนครับ
พี่บอยในตอนนั้นคงรู้สึกผิดหวังกับตัวเอง
คำว่า loser (ไอ้ขี้แพ้) คือ คำที่เขาใช้เรียกตัวเองในวัยเด็ก

พี่บอยไม่ใช่คนเกเรเลยได้เกรดไม่ดีนะครับ
ตรงกันข้าม เขาตั้งใจท่องหนังสือด้วยซ้ำ

"ผมฉีกหนังสือเป็นเล่มๆ ออกมาทีละบท
เพื่อจะมานั่งอ่านทีละหน้า
แต่มันไม่รู้เรื่อง
ผมโครตพยายาม
แต่ตอนสอบ มันทำไม่ได้"...พี่บอยกล่าวไว้

แทนที่แม่จะว่าหรือดุที่ผลการเรียนไม่ดี
แม่ของพี่บอยกลับบอกว่า...

"โรงเรียนนี้น่าจะไม่เหมาะสำหรับบอยหรอก
เขาน่าจะสอนไม่เก่ง
เดี๋ยวไปหาโรงเรียนที่มันเหมาะกับบอยดีกว่านะ"

"ดีแล้วที่บอยเรียนไม่เก่งแบบพี่น้องคนอื่นๆ
เพราะตอนเด็ก แม่โง่มากเลย
การบ้านแม่ก็ทำไม่ได้ สอบก็ไม่ได้
ลอกเพื่อนประจำเลย
เพราะฉะนั้น แม่ก็จะได้มีบอย
เป็นเพื่อนสักคนหนึ่งในบ้านที่เป็นเหมือนแม่"

คำพูดนี้ของแม่
ทำให้เขาไม่รู้สึกโดดเดี่ยว
รู้สึกว่าโง่เหมือนแม่ก็ดีนะเนี่ย พี่บอยว่าไว้

แล้วพี่น้องในบ้านเดียวกันล่ะ?
คุณคงสงสัยใช่มั้ย...ว่าเค้ามีปฏิกิริยาอย่างไร?

ถ้าเป็นครอบครัวทั่วไป คงมีการหยอกล้อกันบ้างแหละ
แต่ในครอบครัวพี่บอย
พี่น้องอีก 4 คนไม่มีใครซ้ำเติมกัน
พวกเค้าใช้ชีวิตปกติราวกับไม่มีอะไรร้ายแรงเกิดขึ้น

ทุกคนในครอบครัวของพี่บอย
ไม่ยอมให้อะไรเข้ามาทำลายบรรยากาศ
ที่นิ่งสงบและอบอุ่นของครอบครัวได้เลย

หลังจากที่มีปัญหามากมายกับการเรียนในไทย
จุดพลิกผันของพี่บอย
คือ การตัดสินใจไปเรียนต่อทางด้านดนตรี
ที่ University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)
ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา

ที่นั่นพี่บอยได้เรียนทั้งในเรื่องการแต่งเพลง
ด้านดนตรี Electronics และธุรกิจด้านดนตรี

พอความรักและหลงใหลด้านดนตรีของพี่บอย
มาเจอกับการศึกษาที่ตรงจริต
พี่บอยเรียนจบ 3 หลักสูตรในเวลา 5 ปี
ด้วยเกรดเฉลี่ยมี A- ตัวเดียว
ที่เหลือ คือ A ทั้งหมด!!!

พี่บอยให้สัมภาษณ์ว่า...

"ทั้งหมดนี้ไม่ได้มาจากการตั้งใจเรียนเลย
มันมาจากการที่ผมรักมันสุดหัวใจ
อยากรู้อยากเห็น อยากเข้าใจไปหมด
ผมไม่เคยท่องหนังสือ แต่อ่านมันจนเข้าใจ
ผมเพิ่งเข้าใจคำพูดที่พ่อเคยบอกอย่างแท้จริงเป็นครั้งแรก

หัวใจเราอยู่ที่ไหน
ทรัพย์สมบัติเราก็อยู่ที่นั่น"

นี่คือตัวอย่างของเด็กที่อาจจะมีความถนัดไม่ตรงกันกับ
สิ่งที่โรงเรียนใช้วัดความสามารถนะครับ

ศาสตราจารย์ Howard Gardner นักจิตวิทยา
มหาวิทยาลัย Harvard อธิบายว่า...
สติปัญญาของมนุษย์มีความสามารถ
โดดเด่นแตกต่างกันได้ 8 สาขา

1. ปัญญาด้านภาษา (Linguistic Intelligence)
2. ปัญญาด้านตรรกศาสตร์และคณิตศาสตร์ (Logical- Mathematical Intelligence)
3. ปัญญาด้านมิติสัมพันธ์ (Visual-Spatial Intelligence)
4. ปัญญาด้านร่างกายและการเคลื่อนไหว (Bodily Kinesthetic Intelligence)
5. ปัญญาด้านดนตรี (Musical Intelligence)
6. ปัญญาด้านมนุษยสัมพันธ์ (Interpersonal Intelligence)
7. ปัญญาด้านการเข้าใจตนเอง (Intrapersonal Intelligence)
8. ปัญญาด้านธรรมชาติวิทยา (Naturalist Intelligence)

ดังนั้น เด็กที่ได้เกรดไม่ดีจากโรงเรียน
ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่า...
เค้าไม่เก่งนะครับ เพียงแค่เค้าอาจจะเก่งด้านอื่น
ที่ทางโรงเรียนไม่ได้วัดด้านนั้นก็ได้

ดังนั้น พ่อแม่ควรจะสังเกตความถนัดของเด็ก
แล้วส่งเสริมด้านนั้นของเด็กต่อไปครับ

เฟียตอยากเผยแพร่บทความนี้
เพราะอาจจะมีเด็กอีกหลายคนที่ตกอยู่ในสถานการณ์
เหมือนพี่บอยในตอนเด็ก

อย่าคิดไม่ดีกับตัวเอง อย่าคิดว่าตัวเองโง่นะครับ
คนเราน่าจะมีสักด้านที่เราถนัด
เพียงแต่เราต้องหาด้านนั้นให้เจอ
แล้วก็เรียนรู้เพิ่มเติมเพื่อไปให้สุดในด้านที่ถนัดครับ
