Throwback to our memorable dog sleigh ride in Sälen, Sweden when Angel was just one-year-old. We wrapped ourselves in six layers of clothes, wore goggles and neck warmers, and brought along heat packs to withstand the cold. The hubby was the one who controlled our sleigh (there were 8 groups of people and you had to choose your own 'driver' for your sleigh. Then, you are to form a single file and follow the guide) and half the time, the snow was up till his knee as he needed to step hard when it was time to stop.
Compared to the other sleighs which had an average of three brawny Europeans, our sleigh consisted of just us - two petite Asians and a tiny baby. So our huskies, who by the way were amazingly obedient, had an easier job and they ran so fast that we even managed to overtake the other sleighs (though we were not supposed to). These huskies were amazing and I was surprised that they understood the hubby's commands, like 'Stop' and 'Go', which he spoke in English.
The whole ride took nearly 2 hours and it was definitely the coldest time of my life - temperature was minus 25 deg celsius and I had icy snow splattering in my face the whole time. I couldn't feel my fingers or toes, but I knew I would risk everything just so to capture the awe-inspiring and truly breathtaking scenery. So yup, I took off one glove, held on to my baby with one hand and snapped away with the other bare hand till my camera battery gave up on me, never regretting it in the least.
Will we ever do this again with three kids? I sure hope that one day we will.
