A year ago, while I was in Germany singing Brahms’ Requiem, I watched a wonderful Zelenka concert on my day-off. I was so invigorated after the concert that it has inspired me to set a five-year-goal: to sing baroque music in Europe, with a top baroque ensemble. One year later, my dream came true, and it was with the ensemble Al Ayre Español - Eduardo López Banzo which made me fall in love with baroque music in the first place.
It is an immense pleasure and honour to sing with this group of inspiring, generous and passionate musicians: Eugenia, Gabriel, Victor, Jose, Alexis, Kepa, Jose, Pedro, Guillermo, Xisco, Juan. And honestly I have no idea why I was so lucky - that Eduardo would trust me, a person from Hong Kong who’s never spoken or sung in Spanish, to sing the treasures that he’s discovered from oblivion, that he has dedicated 30 years of hard work on. Thank you for giving me this responsibility. Thank you for showing me how the warm, golden-hued Spanish sunshine is the inspiration of all the flavours in Spain’s culture, language, food, art, music and personalities.
This special journey makes me feel that life’s dots connect in a truly marvellous way.
