It is Day 20 of Myanmar under the military coup. This is the third coup that has happened since the British gave up power in 1948 and as a country, we are pretty worn out. Our country’s infrastructures are not designed for prolonged fighting especially in the middle of a pandemic.
We have extremely fragile banking, transportation, and medical systems in place even before the coup and pandemic. I dare not to imagine what the future holds for the country after everything is over. How do we begin again? How do we regain the trust of foreign investors? And trust that the military would not go rogue again? These are all the questions that keep us awake at night.
We do not have any answers right now — because we are living moments by moments. As a middle-class citizen in Myanmar, I have a safety net during these times. I have a roof over my head and three meals a day which the majority of the civil servants on strike are risking. These people are the real troopers and it is time we realize that real heroes are always the ones in disguise. And I question myself every night if I could give up everything in my life to fight a war?
Before February 1st, we had so many dreams simply because we could. We dare to dream of futures in which every citizen lives above the poverty lines — it is a difficult thing but at least we were working towards it. We had dreams to fight COVID-19 and open up businesses again. And the dream that our voices were being heard through the democratically elected representatives.
I grew up under a military dictatorship and moved to the States for college at 18. After spending a couple of years in the “land of the free,” I tasted freedom. There were a few restrictions on personal freedom when I moved back to Myanmar in 2017 since it was still a quasi-civilian government. On February 1st, 2021, all my personal rights were stripped away without any proper cause. How do they expect us to go back into the dark after tasting freedom? We are put under martial laws, unexpected internet cut-offs, and threats of violence.
We are simply scared when night falls. In the dark, the country is lawless. Thugs roam around, people get arrested, fires start, and small cities could be under attack by the defenders of the country.
This coup takes a big toll on our mental health. We are afraid — but we all have this little hope in us. Everyone I know is working towards achieving this little hope. All we want is to get our country back. The fragile banking, economy, and transportation. We want to fix those fragile things through our chosen representatives. We will happily accept this mess and build the country again. We want to make sure our next generation could thrive and not take democracy for granted.

【Founders: What's Your 20 Mile March?】
In his book "Great by Choice," author Jim Collins set off to understand why some companies were not only able to withstand the test of time--weathering through volatility, uncertainty, and recessions--but also outperform industry peers by 10x.
One of those factors was what he called the 20 Mile March. To illustrate this concept, he cited the story of two explorers--Amundsen of Norway and Scott of England--each leading an expedition to the South Pole. Amundsen's team trekked around 20 miles, every day, rain or shine, no matter what. Meanwhile, Scott's team would push their limits as far as they would go on good days with clear skies, while limiting their efforts on days with inclement weather.
The Norwegians ultimately reached the South Pole first, a whole 5 weeks ahead of their British counterparts.
As a founder, there are so many things out of your control, whether it's competition, technological change, geopolitics, natural disasters, or global pandemics--perhaps more relevant today than ever. Furthermore, you're constantly bombarded with ideas, opportunities, fires to put out, and an endless barrage of other things pulling your attention left and right. Adopting a 20 Mile March creates a tangible point of focus that keeps you and your team moving forward, despite confusion, uncertainty, and even chaos.
For companies pre-PMF, this might entail deploying several product iterations or talking to a certain number of customers per month. For growth stage companies, this could mean hitting certain threshold of profitability each quarter, never going over or under.
A 20 Mile March doesn't need to be financial. It could be oriented towards customer service, learning, or even innovation. In any case, a good 20 Mile March has the following 7 elements, according to Collins:
1. Clear performance markers
2. Self-imposed constraints (upper and lower bounds)
3. Appropriate to the specific company
4. Largely within the company’s control to achieve
5. A proper timeframe (long enough to manage, yet short enough to have teeth)
6. Imposed by the company upon itself
7. Achieved with high consistency
For leaders of startups, corporations, expeditions, teams, or even your own personal lives, it is paramount to adopt an almost fanatic-like discipline, with clear and consistent steps if you want to achieve your goals. This requires acclimating to two distinct types of discomfort: delivering high performance in difficult times and holding back in good times. As they say, the more you sweat in times of peace, the less you bleed in times of war.

I've had a reverend in my local electorate say that the 'gay onslaught will start the day this bill is passed.'
So we are struggling to know what the gay onslaught will look like. We don't know if it will come down the Pakaranga highway as a series of troops or whether it will be a gas that flows the electorate and blocks us all in.
I also had a Catholic priest tell me that I was supporting an unnatural act.
I found that interesting coming from someone who has taken an oath of celibacy for his whole life. Celibacy... I haven't done it so I don't know what it's about.
I also had a leader tell me I would burn in the fires of hell for eternity and that was a bad mistake because I've got a degree in physics. I used the thermodynamic laws of physics.
I put in my body weight and my humidity and so on. I assumed the furnace to be at 5000 degrees and I will last for just on 2.1 seconds. It's hardly eternity. What do you think?
I also head some more disgusting claims about adoption. Well, I have got three fantastic adopted kids. I know how good adoption is, and I have found some of the claims just disgraceful.
I found some of the bullying tactics really evil. I gave up being scared of bullies when I was at primary school.
However, a huge amount of the opposition was from moderates, from people who were concerned, who were seriously worried, about what this bill might do to the fabric of our society.
I respect their concern. I respect their worry. They were worried about what it might do to their families and so on.
Let me repeat to them now that all we are doing with this bill is allowing two people who love each other to have that love recognised by way of marriage.
That is all we are doing. We are not declaring nuclear war on a foreign State. We are not bringing a virus in that could wipe out our agricultural sector forever.
We are allowing two people who love each other to have that recognised, and I cannot see what is wrong with that for neither love nor money.
I just cannot. I cannot understand why someone would be opposed. I understand why people do not like what it is that others do. That is fine. We are all in that category.
But
I give a promise to those people who are opposed to this bill right now. I give you a watertight guaranteed promise.
The sun will still rise tomorrow. Your teenage daughter will still argue back to you as if she knows everything.
Your mortgage will not grow. You will not have skin diseases or rashes or toads in your bed.
The world will just carry on.
So do not make this into a big deal.
This bill is fantastic for the people it affects, but for the rest of us, life will go on.
Finally, can I say that one of the messages I had was this bill was the cause of our drought.
Well, if any one you follow my Twitter account, you will see that in the Pakuranga electorate this morning, it was pouring with rain.
We had the most enormous big gay rainbow across my electorate. It has to be a sign. If you are a believer, it is certainly a sign.
Can I finish, for all those who are concerned about this, with a quote from the bible.
It is Deuteronomy. I thought Deuteronomy was a cat out of the musical 'Cats,' but never mind.
The quote is Deuteronomy 1:29.
'Be ye not afraid.'"

Apa khabar, #CHAYANGS? Well... 2020 was THE start of a new decade that everyone was looking forward to. But it definitely took a turn with so many bad news (deaths, forest fires, etc) and this pandemic (COVID-19) that took over the world by storm. In the midst of all that, I was preparing for the big day, hoping that it will soon be over and we can still carry on our plans to celebrate our union with our loved ones, friends & family as per usual. However, with the increase number of cases day by day and with the mass gathering ban in Malaysia (for everyone's safety, #StayAtHome!), unfortunately – we may have to postpone our wedding... ???
Anyway, this vlog is a compilation of all the snippets from Feb until last week before the Movement Control order (MCO)! We are forced to put our wedding content on-hold for now, but we will do our best to film as much as we can! ⛪???? If you are curious about what Daryll and I are feeling and going through right now, feel free to leave your questions and thoughts in the comment section below. Or if you're a bride/groom who wants to share your feelings in this community, feel free to do so!
DISCLAIMER: I know that this virus has a bigger global impact on the ENTIRE world and I acknowledge that! People's lives and health are at stake, economies of the world are all affected as well as the livelihoods of the people... so, before I get comments about sounding like a spoilt bride, I just wanna put it out there that I KNOW and I CARE. However, currently, THIS is what I am going through personally, and there are other bride-to-be's out there who can relate to this video. I just wanna say – WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, SIS ???? We are doing our part in postponing, in rescheduling, in re-negotiating with people’s well-being in mind!
On another note, to try and give back, I contributed to Yayasan Generasi Gemilang to help families from low-income communities to purchase food supplies & over the counter medication to assist them in continuing their livelihood during this difficult time.

Who wants to join Team Dan Lok and work side by side with me, Sifu Dan Lok, and a team of ultra-high-performers?
In the past year, I’ve hired dozens of my mentees to join me in Team Dan Lok. And right now, I am looking for someone to fill:
★ 1 x full-time Social Media Genius (with a strong focus on Quora & Reddit, so experience on these platforms are a plus)
★ 1 x full-time Social Media Genius (with a strong focus on Youtube, so experience on these platforms are a plus)
★ 1 x full-time Social Media Genius (with a strong focus on Instagram & Facebook, so experience on these platforms are a plus)
★ 1 x full-time Mad Copywriter
So my question to you is this.
Do you have what it takes to join Team Dan Lok?
If you are not, then you can stop reading here. If you are interested, just know this: Team Dan Lok is NOT for the weak.
When you’re on the team, you will be challenged.
You will be thrown into high-pressure, high-stake situations and be expected to perform ON YOUR OWN.
And you will be pushed to your ABSOLUTE limits. (Some say I put people through hell before I officially accept them to be on my team)
So this opportunity is NOT for everyone.
Seriously.
But if you’re looking for a team of high-performance individuals who you can push you to the best version of yourself then maybe… just maybe… you might be able to make the cut.
If you want to apply, here’s what to do.
First you must meet all of the following requirements:
You must be coachable.
If you are not, you will not last on my team. Sifu fires FAST.
1) You must be someone who proactively looks for solutions to problems - even when you’re not assigned to fix certain problems
2) You must be able to work under very tight deadlines with high-attention to detail and high-level of skill
3) You must be passionate about your craft and be obsessed at mastering it. I can care less about experience, I care about your attitude and willingness to FIND answers
4) You must be performance-driven and you get motivated by supporting a team and bringing in sales to the company
5) You must be a team-player, not a lone wolf
6) You must speak English as your native language or you have native level fluency
7) You must have good communications skills
8) You must have a constant and reliable computer and internet access
9) You must be looking for a career and be part of a global organization, not just a “job”
10) You must have good time-management and self-management skills as you will be working mostly from home
If you meet these basic requirements, then send an email to hr@highticketsales.com
Two things you must submit to be considered.
1) Make a video and sell my team why you would be a good fit
2) Give us an execution plan on how you can take things to next level. (Detailed and specific plan)
My team is very busy.
So if you’re going to email my team, you’ve only got ONE shot at it.
