#rosannewong BEACH CLEAN UP - SAI WAN 🧹 🧤 🧤

The last hiking trip to Sai Wan beach was two weeks ago and we were distressed and disgusted by the amount of rubbish, mainly plastic items along the coast. We have made a promise (as a family) to organise a beach clean up at Sai Wan beach and we did it yesterday. We couldn’t thank our friends and like minded buddies enough who have showed up for this beach clean up day.

Plastic bags, bottles, food containers (plastic and styrofoam) and food wrappers lying discarded along the streets and at the beach. Ultimately most of this waste ends up in the sea where it can choke fish, birds and sea creatures. This destroys the ocean’s ecosystem as sea creatures would eat bits of plastic and styrofoam mistakenly as their food and ends up back on our dining table via the seafood we eat.

Do you know PLASTIC takes about 450 YEARS or more to break down?? With this figure you could imagine how much plastic we have on earth now that is waiting at the recycling plants, which the volume can’t be handled hence overspill to landfill and ocean. Even after it does, it releases toxins into its surroundings, our earth (where we breathe, live and grow our food) and ocean (where all sea creatures live and where our seafood are derived from)

Earth is our home, she should be worthy of our dedicated care! Don’t wait until it’s too late to act, join us to save the planet that has given so much to us. We want children and future generations to be able to enjoy theWorld’s beautiful beaches, nature trails and country parks. EVERYONE CAN DO THEIR PART, yes EVERYONE and it starts from home:
1• Mindfully stop styrofoam usage
2• Mindfully reduce plastic usage
Solutions for 1 & 2 is to bring your own take away reusable containers, reusable straws (or don’t use straws at all) and reusable shopping bags.
3• Practice separation of plastic, paper and glass disposal and place it in the apartment’s recycling bins.

Lastly, if you don’t see a rubbish bin around, ALWAYS take your rubbish with you. IF ONLY we could all take care of our own rubbish, this world will be a very beautiful place for us all to live in and no one has to pick up other’s rubbish anymore.

靜物研究 II：島民 – 陳以軒個展
Still Life Analysis II：
The Island – I-Hsuen Chen Solo Exhibition

假石植栽林立，市民大道下像是座亞熱帶自然風光島。在這座島上，「市民」們帶著「物件」做暫時性的家居佔領，流離居所於橋下的三不管地帶；同時要面對公權力的間歇清掃，並與陸橋周邊各式的房產文宣共處。房產也被稱為「物件」。

收集這些房產「物件」的文案，抹除案名地點等銷售元素後成詩。撿拾到的詩句（Found Poem）是美好家居的模組化倡議，更是市民對家居的集體想望，呼應橋下島上這些「市民」的處遇，像是弔詭的寓言。

The underside of Civic Boulevard resembles a subtropical island hot spot with its artificial stones and potted plants decor. On this island, "citizens" carry with them “objects” that temporarily occupy spaces that could be called home. Households at the foot of a bridge, a no man’s land. The authorities come in every once in a while to groom the area. Real estate advertisements in all imaginable shapes and forms huddle close by. Here, a piece of property is termed an "object."

I collected written information and slogans in the advertisements. Sales details such as project names and locations are then eliminated. What is left of these messages becomes poetry. The Found Poems laud the modularized ideal of beautiful living and depict Taipei citizens’ collective yearning for home and lifestyle. They are a paradoxical prophecy and reflection on the condition of the island "citizens" under the bridge.

這樣的2020年，我們寫了一首這樣的歌——〈敬啟者 Dear Humans〉。

給所有活著、並期待或害怕末日來臨的人們。人們鑄下大錯、人們後悔、人們領悟、人們乞求著被世界原諒。但何不從現在開始？好好愛著那些該愛的，好好珍惜地球上的每一個生命、每一方土地。

這封信，給末日來臨時逃離地球的人類們。我們是當初曾與你們相伴，卻被獨自留下的寵物，是狗、是貓、是烏龜、是一株盆栽。

這次，請換你們聽聽我們說。

In a time like 2020, this is the song we wrote —— “Dear Humans”.

To all the living humans who expect or are afraid of the coming of apocalypse: People made big mistakes. People regretted making them. People admitted the wrongs. Now, people are begging to be forgiven by the world. But why not start making amends right away? Love those who deserve to be loved. Cherish every form of life and every inch of land.

This letter is written to the humans who left the Earth when the apocalypse came. We are the pets that accompanied you in the past, but then you left us here alone. We are dogs, cats, turtles and potted plants.

And now, please listen to what we have to say.

Kimchi is one of my favorite side dishes, especially with Bibimbap rice. I could eat tons of kimchi in one go. My second favorite is radish kimchi. What's your favorite Korean dish? I start to miss the tofu pot lately.
