「I like」や「I love」の表現に飽きた方へ

英語で「〜が大好き」と表現する際、いつも「I like」や「I love」と言っている自分に飽き飽きしている人も多いのでは？そこで今回のコラムでは、「I like」や「I love」の言い換え表現として使えるフレーズを5つご紹介いたします。ぜひ使ってみてください！

1) I'm into _____.
→「〜が大好き / 〜に夢中」
--------------------------------------------------
　
スポーツ、音楽、趣味、食べ物などに夢中になっている意味として、ネイティブが日常会話で頻繁に使う口語的な表現です。例えば「I'm into J-POP.」は「私はJ-POPが大好きです」という意味になります。
　
✔物事に限らず、誰か（人）に夢中になっている状況でも「I'm into someone」のように言うことができる。
　
✔多くのネイティブは「I'm really into _____」のように“Really”を加えて、夢中になっていることをより強調した言い方をする傾向がある。
　
＜例文＞
　
I'm into cooking. What are you into?
（私は料理をするのが大好きです。あなたは何が好きですか？）
　
I just started surfing and I'm really into it.
（最近、サーフィンを始めて、すごく夢中なんだよね。）
　
I'm really into Cathy. She's easy to talk to and she's just fun to be around.
（キャシーのことが気になるんだよね。話しやすいし、一緒にいるだけで楽しいしさ。）

2) I have (got) a soft spot for _____.
→「〜が大好き / 〜に弱い / 〜に目がない」

“Soft spot”は「弱点」を意味し、このフレーズを直訳すると「〜に対して弱い」になりますが、日本語の「甘いものに弱い」や「可愛い子に弱い」などと同じように、「弱い」ことが「大好物」の意味を成します。また、理由はよくわからないが、どうしても嫌うことができないといったニュアンスが含まれます。例えば猫が大好きであれば「I've got a soft spot for cats.」と言うことができます。
　
✔一般的に人や動物に好感を持っている場合や、好きな食べ物を表現する場合に使われる。
　
＜例文＞
　
Aw, your puppy is so cute! I have a soft spot for puppies!
（あぁ〜、あなたの子犬、超かわいいじゃん！私、子犬に目がないよのね〜。）
　
Can I have one? I've got a soft spot for chocolate chip cookies.
（一個もらってもいい？私、チョコレート・チップ・クッキーが大好きなの。）
　
I don't know what it is but I have a soft spot for Charlie.

3) I can't get enough of _____.
→「〜が大好きでたまらない」

何回食べても飽きない食べ物や、何回みても飽きない映画など、何度繰り返しても物足りないぐらい大好きなことを示す場合に使われるフレーズです。例えば、私は一風堂の赤丸ラーメンが大好きなのですが、食べ終わった後にいつも「I can't get enough of this.（このラーメンは何回食べても飽きない）」と一人で呟いています。（笑）
　
✔大好きなことを多少大げさに言っているニュアンスがある。
　
✔「I can't get enough of you.」のように、人に対して使うこともできる。恋人だけでなく、仲の良い友達に対して使ってもOK。
　
＜例文＞
　
I seriously love this song! I can't get enough of it.
（この音楽マジで最高！何回聞いても飽きない。）
　
I can't get enough of this movie. It's a classic!
（この映画は何度みても飽きないね。最高の映画だよ。）
　
You're so hilarious, Matt. I seriously can't get enough of you.

4) I'm addicted to _____.
→「〜にはまっている」

“Addicted”は「中毒」を意味する単語で、本来は麻薬やお酒などの中毒になっている状況で使われますが、日常会話ではゲームやテレビ番組、インターネットなどにはまっている意味としても用いられます。しかし、薬物中毒のように結果的にプラスにならない娯楽に対して使われる傾向があり、スポーツや語学の勉強に対して使うのは違和感があるので気をつけましょう。
　
✔洋楽の歌詞のなかで「I'm addicted to you（あなたに夢中になっている）」と言っていることがよくあるが、実際の日常会話で使うと気味の悪い印象を与えるので、人に対しては使うのは避けたほうが無難。
　
＜例文＞
　
You're still playing Pokemon Go? You're so addicted to that game!
（まだPokemon Goやってるの？はまりすぎだよ。）
　
I'm addicted to this new show on Netflix. I can't get enough of it!
（Netflixの新番組にはまっててさ。何回みても飽きないんだよね。）
　
It sounds like your addicted to Facebook. You should take a break from it.

5) I'm crazy about _____.
→「〜に夢中になっている / 〜の虜になっている」

日常会話では、口語的な言い方として「I love」の代わりによく使われ、スポーツや食べ物、音楽や映画、気になる人などに夢中になったり虜になったりしていること、即ち「大好き」であることを意味します。
　
✔「〜にあまり関心がない」を「I'm not (too) crazy about _____」とも言える。
　
＜例文＞
　
There are a lot of Americans who are crazy about anime.
（アニメに夢中になっているアメリカ人はたくさんいます。）
　
My friend is crazy about the Hanshin Tigers. His entire house is filled with Tigers memorabilia.
（私の友達は阪神タイガースの熱狂的なファンでな、家中タイガースグッズだらけやねん。）
　
I'm not too crazy about cars. I'm satisfied with my used Toyota Carolla.

I’ve also signed up for a few workshops/courses that I’ve been wanting to do!! One of them required me to fly to the States, i had been trying to find the time to go and then all this happened. On a whim I decided to check their website and they were offering it online!! Yaaay internet!! There have been a few things that have been making my blood boil, after lots of boiling ive found a direction to channel that anger haha started my readings this week. Wish this slow reader luck!!

My sister and I did a colouring page together the other week, my sister set the rule of going with it and not thinking too much. Haha it was helpful! it was also fascinating how differently we approached the page! Then as we were talking, i mentioned how I’d been wanting to make my own colouring book for aages, then listed all the reasons why i couldnt do it. (Can’t draw, want to find an illustrator to work with, what’s the story etc.) She suggested i just get started. Like, just draw whatever, dont have to be perfect, and do whatever i feel like. So i did! Here is my first ever colouring page! 😂😂 hahaha (yes, that’s a mistake on top, it wasn’t intentional, but i decided to just leave it in!!)
