今天要跟大家介紹的是這個單字：
『groundswell』
根據Merriam-Webster的英英解釋
1. usually ground swell : a broad deep undulation of the ocean caused by an often distant gale or seismic disturbance
2. a rapid spontaneous growth (as of political opinion)
eg. a groundswell of support
也就是
1. （海潮）暴湧；大風潮；巨浪；（颶風和地震引起的）海嘯
2. （輿論、情緒等的）迅速高漲（或發展）
個人認為Merriam-Webster的英英解釋通常都比較困難一些，Cambridge的平易近人許多。雖然這個字在Cambridge上只有第二個解釋，還是貼上來讓大家稍微比較一下。
2. a growth of strong feeling among a large group of people:
大家可以依據喜好自行選擇要使用哪一個字典唷～
回到正題，這個字原意為海嘯，藉由海嘯以及巨浪的意象來表示情緒上的高漲，覺得很值得偷偷記下來到筆記本上改天拿出來用用！
本文例句：
I believe that longer term, the crisis is likely to increase awareness that companies must consider societal needs, not just short-term profits.
