The Power to Do the Right Thing
“A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight. When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them. Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires.” (Proverbs 11:1-6 WEB)
The verses above are linked. The main theme is that the greed for riches is a sure path to destruction.
If you are a child of God and are cheating in your job or business to earn more money, stop it while you can.
Come clean—God can restore you for making the right decision and protect you from the backlash of your previous wrong decisions.
Pride is to insist in your own way, even when God’s word clearly warns against the love for money, saying that it is a root of all kinds of evil.
God wants you to prosper and have more than enough money to be a blessing, but He doesn’t want money to become an idol that you worship in your heart.
Humility is to admit that, “Yes, I’ve made some bad decisions in the past because of greed, but I repent of them now. Please give me the strength to do the right thing and protect me from any backlash. Thank you Jesus for your Grace towards me.”
This is wisdom. It may be uncomfortable to admit your errors, may result in you suffering some losses and you might have to endure some anger from the ones you have defrauded, but you have rectified your character, integrity and will be restored with more blessings in due time.
If the Holy Spirit inside you is leading you to do the right thing, trust that He will supply you with the strength for it.
You are a child of God with the gift of righteousness.
You have God’s seed in your spirit, giving you the desire and power to live a godly life in Christ Jesus.
This is the reason why your stomach churns and your heart sinks whenever you cheat or defraud—it is against your nature and you actually hate that you’re doing it.
I want to encourage you today. You are not too far gone. You can still turn back and do the right thing.
You will be delivered and you will not die—don’t be intimidated by the devil.
He wants you to persist in your sins until the fruit of death is fully mature in your life.
There is no condemnation for you. God is not punishing you for the wrong decisions you’ve made.
If you’ve suffered in any way, it’s just the earthly consequences of sin, but God is firmly on your side—He is for you and has much more good things in store for you!
