And so that moment in life comes, when your biggest dream is no longer conquering the world, getting almost sickeningly rich or becoming a superstar. Well.. no need to lie, some of those still are there somewhere in the back of your head, yet none of them is the thing you want the most. All of a sudden, everything that would make you the happiest person on the planet is simply spending Christmas with your family. You’ve been here and there. First Christmas you spent abroad – great, you got all excited cause that’s ‘your first time’. Second Christmas, you are at completely different place than before. Again, you get excited, there’s a bit sadness coming out slightly for one second, and then your friends remind you that it still can be great. And here comes the third Christmas. When you miss so much, and then you hear all those people asking you ‘what is your wish?’, and that's not a new pair of socks, that's not a perfume, not a nice lingerie or a jewelry - and don't get me wrong those are best gifts for women - but..all you can think of seems so impossible to get. Because no one can buy you memories, jar of love and kisses from your beloved ones, the sound of Christmas carols, the smell of most delicious homemade Polish dishes (must be 12 on our table, one for each month!), and most of all - so surprising even to myself-..the smell of a Christmas tree! I went to that Strasbourg market next to Taipei 101, and literally cried when the smell of a spruce hit my nose because... that’s the way home smells this time. That (spruce), cinnamon (pierniki), cheese- or poppy-seed cake and dried mushrooms – all sunken deeply in aroma of love – to be specific is the smell of home and the whole Poland now...
