Happy memories of Japan! This is where I was 3 years ago today - in Osaka exploring the craziness of Dotonbori, DenDen Town & Amemura. Such a fun day! (Here's my obligatory photo with the Glico sign - you haven't been to Osaka unless you take this exact same photo!) 😝

Exploring Amerika Mura (Amemura) in Osaka - a little piece of America in Japan!
America-Mura is an area near Dotonbori with vintage clothing stores, independent record shops, street food and alternative fashion. It's centred around Triangle Park, and it's an alternative area where young people hang out. You can walk there from Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, so it's easy to visit while you're exploring the main areas of Osaka. It has a different atmosphere to other areas of the city, with indie shops and street art:
- Vintage shops with American clothing
- Triangle Park (Mitsu Park / Sankakukoen)
- Cute snacks and street food (like you'd find in Harajuku!)
- Big Step shopping mall
- Retro pinball arcade
- Lolita shops

Vegetarian curry at Coco Curry Ichibanya, a delicious (and cheap!) katsu curry restaurant in Japan. Branches in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and all around the Japan.

I love Coco Curry! The food is delicious, it's cheap, and you can customise your curry with different spice levels and toppings. And it's the real deal - it really is spicy if you go above level 3. And they have vegetarian curry at select branches! It's difficult to find vegetarian Japanese curry in Japan, because it usually contains meat stock. However, if you order from the vegetarian menu at Coco Curry, it contains no animal-derived ingredients. Remember it's not at all branches, and you might have to ask for the special menu. There are some dishes on the regular menu that look vegetarian but have the regular meat sauce.

Arriving in Osaka, Japan, on the shinkansen (bullet train) and hotel room tour of the Hearton Hotel Shinsaibashi Nagahoridori.

The Hearton Hotel Shinsaibashi is a new hotel, opened in March 2018, in Osaka, just a few minutes walk from Shinsaibashi subway station. You can also walk to the famous Dotonbori area, Amemura (America Village). Denden Town, lots of sops and restaurants and other attractions in central Osaka. Here's my room tour and review of the hotel, with what you get in your room. I found it really comfortable, a great place to stay and a very convenient location!
