The Amazing Harvard
Saya telah membentangkan paper saya dalam dewan kuliah di Harvard Universiti. Ini sepatutnya menjadi berita utama di dada2 akhbar di Malaysia. Ini hanyalah lintasan pemikiran seorang anak muda yang amat teruja berada di dalam kuliah berhadapan hampir 150 pengkaji & pengamal kewangan Islam. Bila kita dah seronok, kita terus ingin bermimpi lagi. Inilah rahsia benih kejayaan.
Di saat itu, orang sudah mengenali siapa saya paling kurang cara pemikiran saya apabila saya menulis sesuatu bahan kajian. Pembentangan saya masih teruk lagi. Lantaklah. Mana ada orang boleh terus pandai. Bruce Lee pun kena latih 100 kali setiap hari untuk satu jenis tumbukan.
Di waktu malam, seperti biasa saya suka bersama dengan beberapa rakan baru 'hang out' dalam majlis sosial makan2 sambil mengenali satu sama lain & juga mendengar pengalaman & perspektif masing2. Dua dalam satu. Persahabatan & keilmuan.
Bila dah habis seminar 2 hari, saya masih tinggal di Boston untuk 2 hari. Satu hari saya menghabiskan masa di library Harvard. Magnificent. Amazing. Rasa macam nak tidur kat library. Cool. Dah lah amat besar, kaya dengan pelbagai karya dari seluruh dunia. Menariknya, dalam library terdapat pelbagai wing yang ada penajanya sendiri. Antara penaja adalah Boeing, General Motors & pelbagai syarikat besar. Memang Harvard terkenal dengan endowment & tajaan dari alumni mereka sejak beratus tahun. The best endowment Universitii (wakaf) dalam era moden.
Saya juga ambil kesempatan menziarahi beberapa pensyarah Harvard yang hadir dalam seminar 2 hari lepas di bilik mereka. Ramai orang hadir seminar tetapi tidak pandai menyantuni ekosistem.
Di hari kedua, hari sosial. Jalan2 di bandar Boston. Polis ada merata2. Katanya bandar terselamat di USA. Polis hanya dipanggil untuk cari kuching yang hilang. Inilah tanda aras keselamatan.
Di waktu tengahari, dapat undangan makan tengahari dari pelajar Malaysia (Bank Negara scholar) yang sedang buat Master di Harvard. Ikan goreng berlada menu utama. Inilah menu terbaik di Harvard.
Harvard memberi frekuensi tinggi kepada cara fikir saya. Ilmu & keilmuan perlukan intensiti & bukan separuh hati & masa.

How good is Japanese food at Singapore’s food court? To find out, I visited a local food court and tried 5 menu from a Japanese stall. To be honest, I have never really tried Japanese food at a food court because they don’t really look that authentic and good... Hopefully this video will change my perspective. Let’s feast.
