On the first day when dine-in is totally banned in Hong Kong, while people still have to continue to work, some being outdoor and mobile workers without an office. It happens to be a rainy day today with temperature over 30 degree Celsius. And it’s forecast to be raining the whole week.
After weeks of near zero local infections, the Hong Kong government granted exemptions to numerous types of travellers into the city. Scientists later found evidence that these incoming travellers could be the source of many of the recent new infections. The government denied such hypothesis at first and accused experts of misleading the public with unfounded allegations.
Some suspected the government is plotting to build up to a panic to pave way for the postponement of the Legislative Council election scheduled for September, which some believe the pro-demo front would have another landslide victory. Among other tightened measures, the government does not allow dine-in at all eating outlets forcing people to have to eat in the streets. Meanwhile, many exempted travellers not blocked at the custom might continue to come in and spread the virus.
The government calls for people to be patient and tolerant but people blame the government for deliberately creating loopholes to serve their political purpose.
