Unnoticed causes of dampness accumulation
There are two different types of dampness - internal and external. External dampness is caused by the humid environment. For instance, the weather in spring and summer are particularly humid.
Internal dampness, on the other hand, refers to dampness accumulated in the body, and it is normally caused by poor dietary habits. In fact, all kinds of habits in our lives can cause dampness to creep into our body without our knowledge. If you have developed symptoms of dampness, do evaluate and improve your lifestyle accordingly.
.Living near the sea
Property units along the coastline have good market value, but they tend to be more humid. Hence, it’s important to get an effective dehumidifier.
.Refuse to use umbrella on rainy days
This happens to mostly men and youngsters, who think it is cool to walk in the rain. This is exactly how dampness can invade the body, causing individuals to catch a cold or flu.
.Leaving the hair wet after washing it - especially those with long hair
This will give dampness a chance to enter the body through our scalp. Hence, it is important to dry our hair after washing it.
.Long hours of working and overworked
Spending long hours at work and overworked can hurt the spleen and stomach. A weak spleen can easily cause dampness to stagnate in the body.
.A cup of cold drink a day
Whether it is the chilled milk in our so-called healthy breakfast, or the iced lemon tea to go with our spicy rice noodles, or the bubble milk tea we enjoy in the afternoon, all these beverages are below room temperature. These are raw and cold food, which can induce phlegm and dampness production.
.Love eating sticky and chewy food
Desserts that are made of glutinous rice flour and tapioca flour such as glutinous rice ball, glutinous rice cakes, taro balls, mocha, and the bubbles in bubble milk tea are very tempting. However, desserts that are sticky in nature can induce phlegm and dampness production.
.Enjoy clubbing
Drinking alcoholic beverages can cause the body to accumulate dampness, induce phlegm, and lose heat, hence, affecting the liver and spleen. Staying up late can also weaken the spleen, causing dampness to accumulate.
✔ CheckCheckCin Recommendation: Dampness
Ingredients: Rice bean, black eyed bean, hyacinth bean coat
Effects: Strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Relieves fatigue, tired even after adequate sleep, heaviness in limbs and edema.

Understanding coarse grains VS refined food
People these days enjoy delicacies that are soft and smooth – fluffy white bread in the morning, smooth noodles for lunch, and the donuts, buns, cakes and cookies during our afternoon tea. All these are what we called ‘refined food’.
Eating refined food for an extended period would adversely affect our health. Hence, it is best to include some coarse grains into our diet. Coarse grains include whole grains such as barley, rye, oats, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, corn, five-grain rice and whole-wheat flour. Coarse grains with edible skin are sweet potato, taro, peanut, red bean and mung bean. These kinds of food can help increase the dietary fiber in the body.
In order to lead a healthier life in 2021, consider making minor changes to our meals. For instance, add some red rice, brown rice or grain rice into our white rice; eat whole-wheat bread instead of white bread; opt for soba noodles or whole-wheat spaghetti instead of ramen. Add millet , quinoa, pea, chickpea, red bean, mung bean and lotus seeds into our food and beverages, as it can improve the quality of our diet.
Nevertheless, do note that we should not consume coarse grains excessively, especially for individuals who have a weak spleen and stomach, and those with indigestion.

For this episode, we went down to Menbaka Fire Ramen at Cineleisure Orchard to destroy a 15-bowl Flaming Ramen Challenge! Menbaka Fire Ramen is a renowned Ramen purveyor based in Kyoto, Japan and this is their first outlet outside of Kyoto. Their ramen comes heavily flavoured with Negi (Japanese Scallion), with your choice of a Shoyu Broth (their speciality, at $17.90), a Tonkotsu Broth ($18.90) or a Vegetarian Broth ($16.90). The highlight of your visit would be a fiery display of the Chef pouring burning Negi Oil onto your bowl of ramen, resulting in a tower of flames. They allow you to sit right in front of this show and will film the entire thing for you if you wish.
For my challenge, I ate 15 bowls of Shoyu Fire Ramen. Each bowl came with the Shoyu Broth, Ramen Noodles, Char Shu and a heavy sprinkling of Negi, before being topped by their signature Negi Oil. The flaming Negi Oil added a smoky flavour to the Shoyu Broth, reminiscent of wok hei but with a scallion tang. The broth was rich and flavourful, not overly salty but with noticeable layers of flavour-building. The Shoyu Broth is made from chicken, soy sauce and with 2 different kinds of fish, which formed the umami richness. I was surprised by the amount of Negi (and additional Negi Oil) added, but it helped to mellow the strong Shoyu Broth flavours. The ramen was excellent, al dente, yet springy and mildly flavoured, perfect to soak up the rich Shoyu Broth.
With the Shoyu Broth being very heavy, I opted not to guzzle all the bowls which allowed me to push to 15 bowls of Shoyu Fire Ramen. Menbaka Fire Ramen is a quaint restaurant that pairs adrenaline-pumping theatrics with excellent Shoyu Ramen at a very reasonable price. Aside from the good ramen, do visit for the unique experience and Instagrammable photos!

Ee Fu noodles are a favourite in many Chinese restaurants – our recipe today is something that you can whip up easily after a hard day’s work, for the family without hassle.
We blanched the dried Ee fu noodles, and set them aside while cooking up the leek and marinated chicken. We used Knorr SavorRich, made with slowly simmered chicken, for both marinating and seasoning, as it’s an all-purpose liquid seasoning that can be used to cook all kinds of delicious dishes (like this), thus making your cooking even easier!
Garnish with the crispy chicken skin, and you’re ready to serve!
Oh yes, Knorr SavorRich is also a healthier choice product with no preservatives added, find other cool recipes with it here! :- https://www.8days.sg/eatanddrink/recipes/3-satisfying-noodle-dishes-for-a-cosy-dinner-in-12440928
