一般人認為便秘就是排不出大便,或者隔很久才排便;但有些人排便時要很用力,其實也屬便秘的一種,中醫稱之為「虛秘」,與肝、脾、腎等臟腑功能失調有關,要解決便秘問題不能靠一味潤腸通便,要調理體質才能對症下藥,虛秘還細分為陽虛便秘、血虛便秘及氣虛便秘,你有以下症狀嗎?
【陽虛便秘】
症狀:大便稀爛或夾雜未消化食物、腹部冷痛、手腳冰冷、腰膝痠軟等
成因:體內陽氣不足,影響大腸傳送功能,引致便秘。
宜:飲夕米水,適量進食粗糧如番薯、芝麻糊、薑茶、核桃等
忌:飲食生冷、油膩煎炸
【血虛便秘】
症狀:大便偏硬、秘結難下、心悸頭暈、皮膚乾燥
成因:體內津液氣血不足,未能下潤大腸,引致便秘。
宜:飲紅豆米水,適量進食紅豆、紅棗、芝麻糊、蜂蜜等食材
忌:飲食生冷、 辛辣煎炸
【氣虛便秘】
症狀:大便質軟但排便乏力,便後汗出氣短,感覺疲乏
成因:體內氣不足,大腸傳送功能受阻,引致便秘。
宜:飲燕麥米水,適量進補如人參、粗糧如番薯、白米、五穀等
忌:飲食生冷、辛辣煎炸

Eat right to relieve constipation
Most people think constipation is the inability to pass motion for several days, but the term can also be used to describe the symptom where individual has to exert force to excrete the waste. This is what Chinese physicians called ‘asthenic-type constipation’.
Asthenic-type constipation has to do with the disrupted functions of internal organs such as the liver, spleen, and kidneys. Hence, we need to focus beyond improving the bowel movements to relieve constipation. There are three types of asthenic-type constipation: yang-deficient, blood-deficient, and qi-deficient. Do you exhibit the symptoms below?
【Yang-deficient type】
Symptoms: mushy stools, might contain indigestible materials, cold abdomen, cold limbs, and soreness on lower back and knees
Causes: the lack of the yang energy in the body affects the movements in the large intestines causing constipation.
To do: drink dusk rice water; consume an appropriate amount of coarse grains such as sweet potato, sesame paste, ginger tea, and walnut
To avoid: raw, cold, deep-fried, and greasy food and drinks
【Blood-deficient type】
Symptoms: hard stool, difficult passing stool, dizziness and palpitation, dry skin
Causes: lack of qi, blood, and fluid in the body; unable to lubricate the large intestines causing constipation.
To do: drink red bean rice water; consume an appropriate amount of red bean, red date, sesame paste, and honey
To avoid: avoid raw, cold, spicy, and deep-fried food and drinks
【Qi-deficient type】
Symptoms: need to exert pressure to pass stool, soft stool; would sweat and experience shortness of breath after that; feel exhausted
Causes: the lack of qi in the body disrupts the circulation in the big intestines causing constipation.
To do: drink oatmeal rice water; consume an appropriate amount of ginseng and coarse grains such as sweet potato, white rice, and five cereals
To avoid: avoid raw, cold, spicy, and deep-fried food and drinks

Ingredients: Red Rice, Coix Seed, White Rice
Effects: Reduces water retention. Relieves abdominal bloating. Improves yellowish complexion.
Note: Not suitable for pregnant women.

滋補肝腎烏髮素湯
黑髮中夾雜白髮,「銀髮族」是長者的代名詞,但現今不難發現年紀輕輕的人都長有白頭髮,因為現代人普遍工作忙碌,壓力大及用腦過度都會耗損腎氣,外出用膳飲食過鹹都會損害腎精,加上熬夜傷肝,所以容易出現白頭髮甚至掉頭髮等肝腎虧虛的症狀。
頭髮健康與肝腎狀況、情緒及飲食有密切關係,所以想頭髮健康要從生活細節做起,不熬夜,有良好作息時間;避免進食肥甘厚味、生冷、辛辣食物;適當減壓,保持心境開朗;多進食滋補肝腎食物,例如黑芝麻、黑木耳、黑豆、黑糯米、桑椹、核桃、枸杞子等,從而滋潤毛髮,多喝湯水調理身體亦有幫助。
南瓜淮山黑豆素湯
功效:滋補肝腎烏髮,紓緩多白髮、經常使用電腦或手機引致的眼睛疲勞、怕冷、腰痠或耳鳴等症狀。
材料:南瓜300克、新鮮淮山1根、黃耳2塊、黑豆30克、核桃15克、龍眼肉15克、枸杞子15克、蜜棗2枚
做法:
1. 所有材料洗淨,南瓜去皮去籽切大塊;鮮淮山去皮切塊;黃耳泡水半天備用;黑豆以白鍋炒香備用。
2. 鍋內加入約2000毫升水,放入全部材料,以武火煮至水滾,調文火煮約1小時,最後下鹽調味即可。
注意:身體有偏熱症狀如出暗瘡、喉嚨痛、口瘡等不宜飲用。
Vegetarian soup to nourish liver and kidneys
Having gray hair is the first tell-tale sign of aging, but many young people these days also have this problem due to busy lifestyles and stress hurting their kidney qi. Over consumption of salt can also hurt your kidneys. Moreover, staying up late can hurt the liver. Early onset grey hair and even hair loss are symptoms of liver and kidneys deficiency.
Hair health is closely related to liver and kidneys conditions, mood and diet. Therefore, you have to make lifestyle changes to have healthy hair, avoid staying up late, have healthy regular routines, avoid eating oily and fatty foods, cold/raw foods, spicy foods; appropriately manage your stress, keep a good mood; eat more ingredients that can nourish liver and kidneys, such as black sesame, black fungus, black bean, black glutinous rice, mulberry, walnut, wolf berry to moisten the hair. Drinking suitable soups to regulate the body is also helpful.
Pumpkin soup with Chinese yam and black bean
Effects: nourishes liver and kidneys, improves hair quality, relieves grey hair, eye fatigue due to frequent usage of computer or mobile phone, aversion to cold, sore lower back or tinnitus.
Ingredients: 300g pumpkin, 1 fresh Chinese yam, 2 yellow fungus, 30g black beans, 15g walnuts, 15g longan, 15g wolfberries, 2 candied dates
Preparation:
1. Rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Peel and core pumpkin and cut into pieces. Peel fresh Chinese yam and cut into pieces. Soak yellow fungus for half a day. Stir fry black bean without oil in wok until fragrant.
2. Combine all ingredients with 2000ml of water in a pot and cook on high heat until boiling. Turn to low heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add salt to taste.
Note: not suitable for those with heat-related symptoms such as pimple, sore throat, canker sore.
