When it comes to workplace safety, reducing accidents to a minimum is a must. Each fatality means a family broken apart and deprived of a breadwinner. Even one fatality is one too many.
Vision Zero is a mindset that every accident is preventable, and zero harm or ill health is possible – worldwide! It is a global strategy, to be discussed by the 21st World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, which Singapore is currently hosting.
Singapore believes strongly in Vision Zero. We launched our own safety campaign more than a decade ago. Since then we have halved our workplace fatality rate. Our new target is to halve the rate again, and bring it below 1.0 per 100,000 by 2028. I spoke on this and our other measures to reduce workplace fatalities: https://youtu.be/F3u7ti_00d4
People are Singapore’s only resource, and so we take workplace safety very seriously. Every life counts, and every worker matters. – LHL
