We had a simple but heartwarming Mid-Autumn celebration tonight as we headed to the park armed with our handmade lanterns, mooncakes and sparklers. I kept them as a surprise and the kids were overjoyed when they found out.
Anyway, our Mickey Mouse lantern burnt up last year but these three were still useable though they had wax and holes which I had tried to patch up. Yup, we made these back in 2013 and they still bring back so many fond memories and attract so many eyeballs whenever we take them out. It took me two hours to search all over the house this morning and I was half convinced I had dumped them before I remembered a box containing our artwork and that was where I finally, finally found them. Phew.
The sparklers were the highlight of the night and it was amazing how much joy a box that cost $7 could bring. Or then again, it might be the company that mattered most. We lit up the night, and our hearts, with hundreds of sparklers tonight and I loved seeing the kids running around and dancing freely with those big smiles on their faces.
Happiness, to me, is really very simple. Just this night being together as a family brought immense joy to all of us and I am sure we will remember it for a long time to come. Even though the big girl still had homework to do and the kids still got into bickers when we got home, well, I concluded it was a great day and a great night. Haha. Hope everyone had a great 中秋节 too and to the P6 students, all the best for your PSLE! 你们行的!
