The northern Clock Tower, now called the Elizabeth Tower which houses Big Ben, the most famous clock in the world, a place from which time is measured.

在英國下議院（House of Commons）的走廊上，每天都充斥着來來往往的議員與職員，多年來一直沒有人留意到原來其中一塊木鑲板上，有一個小小的鎖匙孔，當然亦沒有人能打開這扇門。
直到國會上、下議院所在的西敏宮（Palace of Westminster，又稱國會大樓（Houses of Parliament））開展翻新工程，歷史學家團隊在英國歷史檔案館逾萬份未分類的文件中，發現了一份走道建造計劃書。團隊按圖索驥，終於發現迴廊上的鎖匙孔。他們自行配了鎖匙，結果一條已有360年歷史的秘道就這樣再次打開了。
專家檢查秘道的天花板木材後，推斷它建於 1660年查理二世登基之時，為了加冕儀式的隊伍而建造，從當時的上議院連結至君主所在的大廳。歷史學家 Mark Collins 表示：「若要形容我們很驚訝，也實在是太過輕描淡寫了，我們真的以為走道在戰後（註：二戰）就被堵死了。」他指多代的政要及議員，包括首任英國首相Robert Walpole等人都曾用過這條走廊。
走廊中亦充滿令人驚喜的歷史痕跡，例如牆上寫着：「1851年8月11日，真正的民主人士留」，據推測應該是支持當年憲章運動的工人所寫；又有「這房間由愛喝老式愛爾啤酒（Ould Ale）的Tom Porter封上」的塗鴉，應該是堵上走廊的人留下的。
