Hello. I am KIVΛ.
Over the past 3 years, I have been working under Rayark Inc. on the rhythm game title 《Cytus II》 as Sound Director, as well as music and sound effects production, together with story design and a portion of motion design. In June last year, I found myself going into different paths with the company, so I left the position as regular staff member, but continued to work with the remainder of the project until version 3.0, where the story finally reaches the finale, so did my journey and objectives for this game development journey. Having this opportunity, I would like to share some of my thoughts regarding this epilogue.
Since I joined this project, the focus of design has always been the joint experience of story and music. With the story reaching the end, I would like to potrait the overall ambient to be more film-like, which players might experience the tension of the climax through music. Having such thoughts, I was determined to unify the music genre in 3.0 as film-score like, blending in motifs from song lineup of each and every game character. I am totally aware that level design for symphonic music is difficult, especially in emphasizing the groove like how it was usually done in electronic music. I want to thank all level designers for their hard work in overcoming such challenges.
The epic vibe from combining contemporary electronic and symphonic music is something that I always wanted to attempt for, and in my previous works there has been appearance of such sound elements, but by using only virtual instruments it might just not reaching my expected result. I want to thank Rayark for being so generous to provide all the support, making the symphonic recording come true.
Having such opportunity, I went for two of my friends who I have never work together with: Shao-ting Sun, a recording engineer in Carnegie NYC; Chamber Chu, a symphonic music producer. They have been my game peers for quite a while, but I have always been admiring their aesthetics and abilities in sound design, and these two grandmasters have definitely outperformed themselves. I spent a whole week staying with Chamber for the arrangement of symphonic parts, which was a very precious experience in music creation. The recording team that Sun brought together, as well as the professional performers that participated in the recording session, is by no doubt astonishing. Recalling that we rushed for the full score of all the pieces until the very morning of the recording session (our sincere apologies), but it took no more than 5 takes for all sections to get the desired outcome. Absolutely fascinataing.
It is also worth mentioning that the entire team of roughly 60 were all Taiwanese. I guess we might have made another achievement in the history of Taiwanese game music production. I am so honoured to have the opportunity in leading such a groundbreaking project, together with all the grandmasters.
3 years isn't that long, but it is more than one out of ten for my life. There were other creation experience that were fun but painful, and many achievements were unlocked when I worked in this company. Standing on the stage in front of the screaming crowd, working with Japanese voice actors that I admired for so long, having so many supporters of my work, all these could never be possible without Rayark. Even I left the company going for different paths, I still wish for the very best of this company to become a even better one.
It is a pity that I can no longer work together with the fantastic members of Team Cytus. Perhaps they are fed up with my twisted personality and being stubborn for what I wanted to create. I would like to thank you all for your understanding and forgiveness. Each of you have the profession and passion, and I found myself so tiny and unintellegent working with all of you, and I have learned a lot over the years. I wish all of you could push the creative industry in Taiwan even further forward. I am returning as a mere artist, working hard on what I could. No matter how harsh life is, I am still working on it, as this is the only thing I am capable to do.
Last but not least, I would like to thank all of you players that have supported this game. Without you, this could never happen. No matter to me, to the Team and to the players, 《Cytus II》 might not be the perfect piece of game, we might have different imaginations on the enormous world settings, characters or even the game design itself. What in common was we spent 3 years to experience the creation and playing process. It is the story and music that linked us together. I believe this is the charisma of the game. I wish you are all loving this game, loving the characters, and loving the time that we created together.
There are so many more to thank, to apologize, the satisfaction and sorrows, and they are all included in this ending music. It is time for me to step down.
Thank you, and goodbye.

Hi everybody, my name is Dallas, I have curated a Spotify playlist for your enjoyment. The songs on this list are not the newest songs, nor is this list a complete representation of hip hop, they are simply songs which I enjoy listening too. I also live off rap and other forms of entertainment these days as well, so I guess I "officially" kinda~ know what I'm talking about.
Check out the playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/…/11158613413/playlist/39uap0OKsJT…
The list is comprised of 45 songs and spans nearly 3 hours. The voices of over 40 artists can be heard on this playlist, with most artists only appearing once. The most frequently appearing artist is the GOAT--Kendrick "Kungfu Kenny" Lamar (2.5 songs). Drizzy also appears twice, however although there are tons of big names on the list I chose to exhibit their less popular tracks that might change your perspective of certain artists you've heard of but never dove into!
PS. GOAT conversations are prohibited in this thread. As of the date this post was released, K Dot undisputedly takes it. That's final. Moving on now.
Of course, I myself am a rapper, and like any rapper, I listen to myself... So before you call me out, I'll come clean and admit I have shamelessly included 2 of my own tracks as well. That's right, I'm finally on Spotify, iTunes and more NOW! Please follow and download and listen on repeat for the rest of your life. I get 0.6 cents per play. Thanks. Shameless plug over.
However to be fair, I encourage all composing musicians to compare their work to the greats, and hold yourself to their standards (I know I'm still a long way off, be easy on me). I personally am always listening to my own tunes whether it's to practise lyrics/performance, listen for flaws, or to simply relive the experience that produced that song. And don't forget this is a playlist I curated based on what I really listen to, so u can't be mad at that, now, can you? The fact there's only 2 of my songs on this list is the most dishonest part about it!
But anyways... Back to how this benefits YOU! This is a good place to start for those who still aren't into "new hip hop" yet and don't want to dig. Your curious, you've heard there's a group of amigos who are into dabbing (whatever that is?), but your lazy, still listening to Wu Tang on cassette tapes... That's OK, I've done the work to get u going. If you don't like anything here, just hit rewind on your tape player. The majority of the list is composed of personal favorites from recent years sprinkled with a couple golden era gems. If you like a song, click the artist name to hear more from them. Happy digging!
If you have any suggestions who you would like to hear on there, feel free to holler as I'll be updating occasionally. Peace out!
PSS If you've read this far, I now revoke your prohibition of debating the Greatest-Of -All-Time. You may now commence to quarrel for days.

Samuel Chan 談英國 recently hit me with a question - What was the most enjoyable part of boarding school?
In short, half-term (LOL!)
Don't get me wrong, I didn’t hate school. I absolutely loved my time at Rye St Antony School in east Oxford. There really should be no fallacies and doubts about what independent and boarding schooling can do for Hong Kong children. You really do meet great friends for life and participate in sporting and extra-curricular activities which, for me, would have been a pipe dream had I not studied in the UK. Fanciful hopes can become unforgettable memories in the blink of an eye at boarding school. Just look at what my involvement in the school's Duke Of Edinburgh Awards and art competitions did for me!
Ah, yes - half-term. I could do little but take advantage of this short break away from school to enhance my awareness of all things British. Cultural development at its most extreme. I would transport myself to other worlds: out in the sticks of rural Oxford (I love that phrase ‘out in the sticks’ - and so do the British), sitting by the River Thames along South Bank watching buskers sing or just going off to watch live bands whenever I could. Out of all these delights, the ‘Thames factor’ did it for me - views of Big Ben and Parliament, city traffic racing by and lyrics from the Kinks singing in my mind (‘as long as I gaze on Waterloo sunset I am in paradise’). It only takes a sunset of a million colours over London to make everything - living, studying and cramming for exams - all seem worthwhile.
In and around Camden Town, murals adorning the old brick buildings which housed funky coffee shops, art galleries and stores as well as the now-legendary Camden KOKO, where every musician would dream to play at. Every visit had its own charm with unpredictable events, chance meetings and the odd planned rendezvous all in waiting. Camden has it all and it was the perfect setting to gain inspiration for my songwriting- scribbling down phrases and live conversations on scrap paper; that feeling of exploding ideas at 3am in the morning happened right here, in broad daylight!
Of course, my budget was low and I still remember using my ‘Young Person’s Railcard’ and getting bargain fare prices at the oddest of hours to get down to London. Yes, my accommodation was always a tatty bed and breakfast but you soon forget these things when you study in the UK. You are just grateful to be there, to be ‘living it’. Overcooked bacon and greasy sausages don’t matter one jot! London is wonderful, not for its shopping or cuisine, but just for casually grabbing a Tesco meal deal and then fleeing off to the Tate Modern or Brick Lane to watch a live band. Heaven!
I really must stop, I can honestly write a book on my time in the UK! Come watch me play at the Cordis Hotel, Mongkok this Saturday(20Feb 12:00pm) or have a chat with Samuel if you wish to study abroad.

for my little lover...
and to everyone who needs a little more love ❤️
We all might feel stuck or lost in life sometimes, not knowing where we are heading...because we cannot see what is ahead of us...and we could feel worried, scared and frustrated....That's how I felt when my son was diagnosed with autism since he was a small boy....
Step by step, we walked together...and he is now a big boy who just turned 14 years old in July 2020...When I look back, I feel very proud of every baby little step we made together...Coz I didn't know but I just had to keep going for him, and for us. And now I know...the little steps could bring us together and farther ahead if we just keep going...There are still a lot of challenges ahead for us....but we will just keep walking...like we have always....not knowing where we are heading...
So I decided to make this animation video for my little lover. I wish, one day, when he can understands the world better, he will remember all the little things that meant to us...and he could feel the love in this little song that I wrote for him and this beautiful animation.
So...me and Little Lover Ethan would like to send you hope and love and blessings through this Little Song....
這是一首我為小情人寫的歌
也是小情人給我靈感去分享給你們的歌
看著他一天一天的成長
他讓我學習什麼事情都可以從一小步開始
a little little step
do a little little more
生命就會一點一點不一樣

《A Little Song》
Music, Lyrics & Performed by Vicky Fung
Give me a little little love
It's been a little little tough
Hold me a little little close
To hear a story never told
Give me a little little time
Give it a little little try
Just give a little little more
Together walking through the door....
That's how I sing along
Daladada daladada
Ooo...hoo
Sing a little song
Daladada daladada
I've been away a little long
Sometimes it's right it could be wrong
I take a little little breath
And make a little baby step
This road a little little long
I sing this little little song
I grow a little little strong
You give me strength to carry on...
That's how I sing along
Daladada daladada
U...
Sing this little song
Daladada daladada
Oh......
I smile a little song
I cry a little song
Daladada daladada
Oh......
I taste a little song
I touch a little song
Daladada daladada
Oh......
I dance a little song
Daladada daladada
Oh.....
Breathe a little song
Live a little song

Lyrics: Sarah Koay
Chorus 1
There are no straight roads in this city
They watch us drop and they’ll have victory
You do or die and nothing in between
You watch and learn, it’s lose or win
Verse 1
Hey boy, I know what’s going on in your mind
You chased your dreams and now you’re saying good bye
What about the things you did and made you shine?
But now you’re packing your bags at half past nine
Lose or win, you gotta give it time
There are no straight roads that lead you to the mine
They are windy, curvy, like graphs of cosine
Coz Santa gives a ride, not to the naughty but the nice
There’ll be some rough times when you think it, you regret it
All the stars that shine on screen, they fake it till they make it
The winners up there, they work it till they slay it
Work my bod real hard coz I wanna be a Brad Pitt
Drive a polo down the coast, but it cost a bummer
Throw me a rock and I’ll show you how I butcher
I run where the roads take me and be a slayer
Show me what you got, are you a lamer or a swagger
Chorus 2
There are no straight roads in this city
They watch us drop and they’ll have victory
You do or die and nothing in between
You watch and learn, it’s lose or win
Verse 2
All the haters hatin on me as if they’ve got the nine
I ain’t good enough, I ain’t deserving the lime
My burning anger burns fury hot like gasoline
Coz I know all good things that happen do take time
I always wanted to be the better, be the best
I will make myself worth not any less
Coz the life’s always a challenge, it’s just a test
Down to earth is my belief, where I reside, it’s my nest
They tell me friends ain’t everything,
Watch yourself, do what keeps you running
No matter what stops you, just keep on singing
At the end of the day, you reap seeds of winning
They’ll keep you down low, make you a loser
Till nothing comes to mind but only failure
Kick your legs, stand back up
Don’t let them make you drown, drown, drown coz it matter
Chorus 3
There are no straight roads in this city
They watch us drop and they’ll have victory
You do or die and nothing in between
You watch and learn, it’s lose or win
Verse 3
Down town, the lit up city is a bustling
I wanna dress up to down, down with the bling bling
Not only just me, but light myself in gleaming
You see me in pain but I’m on the road to winning
All the souls haunt me down in threes
All the people who once made me believe
Triads of you watch me drown in seas
But no, I don’t live my life to please
Lies, one by one I’ll hunt them down
I’ll watch you as you find your way to hide around
Drown me in tears, put me in fears in ghost town
All I heard was your lame cries that sound
Beep beep, I’m on stage but where are you
Gold medals’s up, they’re shining brand new
I don’t need you, I don’t need a cue
There’re no straight roads to winning, I don’t amuse
Chorus 3
There are no straight roads in this city
They watch us drop and they’ll have victory
You do or die and nothing in between
You watch and learn, it’s lose or win

Still can't believe I wrote the lyrics and recorded in 2 days, although I have to admit that I procrastinated for 3 weeks and made it in time to submit 3 days before the due date heheh. Anyway, enjoy the video! Toodles!

Here are the Lyrics :
It's a little scary outside in a Hollywood movie way
It's scary when you can't tell if it's Wednesday or Saturday
Nothing showing on the movie screens all across the world
And this kinda makes me sad
Things have never really gone this bad
But there's a Bright Side to every storm
Though we face a brand new norm
When looking out the window makes me blue
I'm glad that I'm stuck at home with you
I'm so glad it's you I'm stuck with, that is true
Though I can't stop worrying about all the bills that need to be paid
I still can't stop thinking about everybody who's working late
Fighting a battle that our eyes cannot see
And hoping someday soon they'll be
Spending time at home like you and me
Oh there's a Bright Side to every storm
This'll pass and we'll be stronger
When going out is something we can't do
I'm glad that I'm safe inside with you
I'm so glad that I'm stuck at home with you
Oh, there's so much to be grateful for, it's true :)
