Malaysia is going through the most challenging time we have ever experienced because of Covid-19. And no one is spared from feeling the impact despite that; there are a lot of kind souls out there that goes out of their way to help people as much as they could.
@hellotammylim is one of them with a vibrant spark. Tammy went above and beyond by organising a food aid to help those who cannot afford even basic needs for their household. It takes a compassionate heart to put time and energy into organising respective drives, even with a full-time job. She brought happiness to those who need it without expecting anything in reason while inspiring the rest of us.
People like Tammy are blessings to all of us, especially during the pandemic. And just like Tammy, there are ordinary yet inspiring Malaysians out there with their larger-than-life spirit overcoming challenges with their positive energy, and @tenaga_nasional presents a series of Malaysians' greatest untold “semangat” and achievement stories featuring four inspiring Malaysians :
1. Ridzuan Jamal (An entrepreneur who helps unemployed Malaysians to earn an income through the power of RM1 buns)
2. Ong Yong Xuan (20-year-old self-taught coder invented a study app to help SPM students study)
3. Mrs Paramesvary (Passion for food turned their family business into a kitchen for the community)
4. Mama Pinky (Beauty consultant who takes up clowning as a second job to feed stray cats)
You can watch the main film by swiping up through my IG story, as I will be sharing the link over there.

Welcoming New Students and Value-Based Leadership
In the morning, i was speaking to new postgraduate students of IIUM. As much as I wanted to welcome them to IIUM in the official manner, I was inspired or inclined to make the speech informal and entertaining. To embark on studies during the pandemic time is quite challenging. Aware of this fact, I tried to make my speech as light and entertaining as possible. I can notice from the chat section that they were laughing and happy. I am happy when they are happy.
Welcome everyone to the garden of knowledge and virtue. In my speech, indirectly I emphasised on eco-system in addtion to lecturers and students. Some of the universities focus on students but neglecting the lecturers and more so eco-system or value chain of learning. This is a good theme for another time.
In the afternoon at 2pm, I presented my slides on value based leadership. The 2 say webinar session was jointly organised by AKEPT and IIUM. This is a normal presentation. What is new is that I have developed the slides based on big data analytics. Interestingly, my smart learning machine can capture leading core values in leadership on this planet by scanning all publicly published news (in all regions), reports and interviews in the last 3 months.
I was trying to bring the core values of the business world to public universities. The exotic stories of both Ma and Musk (Jack Ma and Elon Musk) in driving core values in business are always inspiring for many generations to come.
A very interesting day indeed. While I spoke to the students in the morning, I spoke to the lecturers and policy makers in the afternoon. While the first speech was informal and casual, the second speech was driven by big data analytics.

Project background:
In 2018, Dr Chow Yiu Fai incorporated service-learning into his lyrics-writing class which enabled the encounter between Fong Chung Yan, one of his students and Johnathan, a nightshift taxi driver. Fong came to know that Johnathan is no ordinary taxi driver: on top of taking his passengers safely to their destinations, he also listens to their stories: tired and sleepy midnight commuters tend to share the bits and pieces about their daily lives. Fong found Johnathan interesting and remarkable, and decided to write a song for him as well as other transportation professionals who work hard—and extra hard during the coronavirus outbreak. The song and its music video are the collective efforts of HKBU students, alumni and staff members, and the taxi driver in the MV happens to be a BU graduate who is a licensed taxi driver in real life too aside his other work engagements. This song is upbeat and rhythmic, reminding us of speed, hurriedness and the dynamics of both taxi drivers and our city. Let’s dedicate it to all the transportation professionals in Hong Kong. We love our roads, our streets, our home. Hong Kong: ADD OIL!
Project background:
Students of Dr Chow Yiu Fai’s lyrics-writing class (2018-19) interviewed people from all walks of life in our society and turned their inspiring stories into poetic lyrical lines. No one would have expected that some of these songs see even more relevance at this moment of crisis in our city, where people like medical professionals, taxi drivers and security guards are bearing more risks and working even harder during the coronavirus epidemic. With the collective efforts of talents from HKBU and beyond, three music videos will be made to dedicate our support and admiration for people serving Hong Kong in this difficult period of time. This is the second of three. (See the first one, a tribute to medical professionals on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ove3lYCtBA.) Together, we combat the virus, and we empower through disempowerment.
Repeat*
