The most disturbing thing about the Hong Kong situation to me as an American is how many major US companies are coming to China's defense.
These are all companies that prey on us every 4th of July/Veterans Day/Memorial Day with overly patriotic ads, touting the "land of the free" and "freedom is a human right" etc.
Now, they have an opportunity to show us that they actually believe in what they say beyond selling shoes/phones or what have you. What are they doing with this opportunity? The exact opposite. Fucking disgraceful. I feel duped that these companies played to my sense of patriotism as an American, when it turns out, they DGAF about freedom or human rights.
The worst part is that Veterans Day is around the corner, and I'm already 200% sure that Nike is going to start running ads with military veterans standing in front of a waving flag talking about how Nike shoes changed his life or some other bullshit.
Billionaire Capitalists colluding with Communists to stomp on human rights in the name of the almighty dollar. Shame on them.
