We did it! 🏆 1st place at the IFBB Pro League Tsunami Cup in Italy 🇮🇹 This also makes him the first ever Malaysian 🇲🇾 to qualify for Mr. Olympia. 🙌 For those of you who are familiar with bodybuilding, competing in Mr. Olympia is THE most prestigious show and a dream of many bodybuilding athletes. 💪🏽
.
Since the first day I got to know him, he’s always told me that his goal is to be the first Malaysian to go to Olympia. It felt like a tough journey and sometimes almost impossible. We had to travel far for every show as there aren’t as many shows in Asia compared to Europe or the US, and honestly it would cost a lot every time.
.
Since covid happened, he has not competed in 2 years as we can’t travel out. Planning this trip and getting all the approvals took us more than 2 months but he was determined that he wanted to go for it. And so we did, one step at a time, not knowing what to expect.
.
Winning this competition didn’t come without its own hurdles. Literally an hour before the competition, he had a really bad back spasm and he could not even walk. He was lying down on the floor and the organisers were so concern they wanted to call the ambulance and take him to the hospital. Of course, he refused. But the pain was getting worse and there’s no way he could perform on stage. I mean he could not even stand straight and flex his abs. Nothing was showing. 😑
.
Somehow, he met 3 of his fans while going to the toilet and they rushed to the pharmacy to get some pain killers. Thank god the show was also delayed by 2 hours. That gave him time to slowly recover and somehow he managed to perform his best.
.
Sometimes, when things are meant to be and when you put the effort and visualise what you want, the universe has its way to challenge you but also align everything for you. One thing we also say to each other is do your best in everything you set your mind to, and remember to have fun! Otherwise, what’s the point?

Culture defines people’s values, beliefs, humor, hopes, loyalties, worries, fears and personal interests. Culture is important because it allows people to maintain a unique identity society. My culture shares many similarities with others around the world; most of which have connected more people in recent years than ever before. We have amazing people, delicious food, beautiful landscape and beautiful clothes! Throughout the differences, I have made many great friends around the world, we share stories, we love and respect each other. Wherever you are, I just wanna say that take care of yourself, be kind and I hope we all align again very soon! I miss you

【Lesson #1 - On picking co-founders】
Co-founder disputes are often the crux of any startup failure. You’ll likely be constantly relying on each other for tactical and emotional support for the better half of 10 years. That’s why picking the right one is paramount in building a successful startup. To help share some insights on this topic, I spoke with Alan Chan, the Co-founder and CEO of Omnichat (AW#16), an HK-based company that provides a chatbot plugin for e-commerce sites to automate marketing and improve customer conversions. Looking back on his excruciating decision to replace a co-founder previously, Alan shares his thoughts on what you should look for when seeking out a co-founder and how to properly vet for commitment and establish trust from the get-go.
—-
I started my company in early 2017 and released the MVP shortly thereafter. I handled all the BD efforts in the beginning, cold calling hundreds of what we in Hong Kong call “upstairs” stores (boutique retail shops located in high rise buildings) to test out my product, until I eventually got 200 users onboard. Despite the fact that the initial version was filled with bugs, 20% of the users still came back every month to use our product. So, I thought it was the right time to find a co-founder to accelerate our BD efforts and overall handle the business side of things while I hunkered down on the product.
I chose my best friend of 20 years as my first co-founder. But it ultimately didn’t work out. It was probably around the time of when we joined AppWorks Accelerator #16 in March 2018 where we kept butting heads and it became evident that our expectations for the business and overall commitment were misaligned. Ending our working relationship was one of the most difficult decisions that I’ve had to make in my life. In retrospect, I missed some things. I was the one who convinced him to quit his job, but I also failed to adequately evaluate whether or not he’d be suitable for the startup lifestyle and the commitment that he was willing to make. It’s not normal work that we do; we don’t have set hours or a salary, and we need to grow very fast and constantly go knocking on people’s doors for money or business while failing a thousand times in the process.
Being a founder can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening for anyone without a strong resolve. I was of course quite naive back then. I had already generated some traction and painted a very rosy picture. I thought it would be easy to scale up once we got some investor money—little did I know haha. But at the end of the day, even beyond complementary skill sets, the most important thing between co-founders is trust. It’s better to have some sort of working relationship before, as only then will you see how they behave under stress and react to criticism and setbacks. If you don’t have a prior working relationship, then go through some sort of trial period or co-work on a few projects to properly understand each other’s working and communication styles. Just like in dating, you’ll need to go on a few dates to properly align on a few fundamental things such as shared values, interests, and commitment before tying the knot.

You can go ahead and judge me
Just so you can say you're right
You can try to rise above me
But what's underneath is your own lies
You can choose to understand me
Or refuse to see the other side
Go and call me the enemy
While I'm only trying to save your life
When a war with each other
Is a war against ourselves
We both lose when we start the fight, oh no
No proof of God above me
I only know what I see
And we can only help ourselves
All together
All together
All together
All together
All together
You can try to separate us
Drop water with your mind
You can say that we are different
When we want the same to survive
When religion and leaders
Still remain in between us
We all lose if we can't align, oh no
No proof of God above me
I only know what I see
And we can only help ourselves
All together
All together
All together
All together
All together
We can only help ourselves

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair
On 28 September 2006 Cathay Pacific signed an agreement that brought Dragonair into the Cathay Pacific Group as a wholly owned subsidiary. At the same time Cathay Pacific established a closer relationship with Air China, with each airline taking a 17.5% stake in the other.
The Dragonair deal - signed in the year we celebrated 60 years of serving Hong Kong - created real synergies by bringing together our international network with Dragonair’s extensive network of more than 20 cities in Mainland China.
Work began straight away to better align the two carriers' networks and reduce connecting times in the Hong Kong hub. Supported by Cathay Pacific's strong international connections, Dragonair has strengthened most of its services and added a total eight new regional destinations since the integration, providing passengers with more choice and boosting Hong Kong’s hub role.
